The Idapt i4 is a charger that lets you trade four blocky âwall wartâ chargers for one desktop wart â" but an attractive desktop wart.
The trick to the i4 charger is that it has interchangeable plug-in tips that adapt it for â" by the company's count â" 4,500 devices.
The charger has three outlets on the top and one USB receptacle on the side for a total of four devices. The charger comes with six modules that snap into the receptacles on top of the charger.
The base, which lists for $60, is available in de rigueur glossy black or white, but for an extra $6.25 to $25 you can choose from 27 other colors and designs - lime green, '70s super graphic styles and illustrations depicting major world cities.
The kit I tried included two micro-USB plugs, an iPhone plug, a mini-USB plug, a Nokia plug and a Samsung plug. Other plugs â" a total of 22 - are available for $10 to $20, including a combination AA an d AAA battery charger.
The charger worked as expected in a test, although I remain a little leery of balancing the weight of a tablet on a pin connector with no other support. You might use the USB cable connection on the side for the heavier devices.
